I Am Vincible

I am writing this Sunday evening as Jamey and Sadie make waffles because I feel too lousy to enter the kitchen or even think about food.  Yesterday morning I woke up with a cold.  One of those knock-you-down-and-stomp-on-you colds.  They usually don't hang around too long for me since I have my trusty nasal-rinse defense, but they most certainly turn me into a fussy wimp.

You can ask Jamey.

So today I have nothing to offer.  I wanted to take pictures of all the hay Jamey bought and talk about Sam's first friend-birthday party and show you pictures of the birthday cake I made for my sister last week.  But I feel like doing no such thing.

I don't feel like doing school tomorrow, but I will.
I don't feel like planning this week's menu, but I will.

I don't feel like tackling the laundry tomorrow, but I will.
I won't feel like doing the dishes, but I will.

NOT because I'm invincible, but because that's what mothers do.  We carry on and push through because if we don't, all the stuff we didn't do will be sitting there smiling at us with a sly little grin once we're better and that in itself could make us sick all over again.

Blog posts may have to wait a couple days.  But it's not because I don't love you.  I just don't want to spread my wimpy-fussy germs more than I already have.

{Don't hound me too much, I did take a nap this afternoon.} Pin It

  1. Thank heavens you were struck down on a weekend when your hubby could take over to the extent that he could take over! Why is it that when a husband/papa gets sick, he stays home from work, lies around moaning and is totally taken care of by you-know-who. When a wife/mama gets sick, she just keeps going managing to do what she always does. (Not whining or complaining, just statin' facts here, Ma'am.)

  2. Honestly, letting yourself rest isn't a bad thing either. Dishes, menu planning, and even homeschool can wait a day or two. Take care of yourself and let your family take care of you too :)

  4. I feel your pain my friend...if it's what I had, it's a doozy. Take good care...pull easy meals from the freezer (or a box or can! lol) and rest...it's the only thing that makes it go away. xoxoxo

  6. If you don't use Sambucol, you should try it to boost your immune system and to decrease upper respiratory illnesses.
Also, some doctors swear that gargling with Listerine 2-3 x a day helps kill germs.

  7. Doesn't this make you envy people who have family around to help in these situations? It's ok to let things go. Really. Let the kids wear dirty clothes for a few days and have cookies for supper. At least they won't feel miserable too :)

  9. if you are not already taking Vit C...then start or boost your normal dosage. I know the bottles say 1000 units are recommended, but studies will show that each person has their own body requirements for Vit C. You should increase your dosage until you reach bowel tolerance (soft stool)..then back up about 500 units. when you are suffering from any type of illness, your body goes into stress. a 'normal' day would use 3500...I, myself, take 4000 units..I woke up 2 weeks ago with a sniffle/stuffy nose...immediately increased my dosage 1000 units, taking it every few hours...2 days of that, and I'm happy to report, no cold! no sniffle!...then I went back to my 'normal' 4000 units per day. Good Luck...and God's Blessings!

  10. Amen sister...........being a mom changes things. But it also makes you realize how strong you are, how able you are and then after you realize that all day long you fall into bed and let your hubby take over. My beloved always makes dippy eggs and toast for supper when I am sick so it make me smile to read your hubby made waffles. Breakfast - it's the supper of champion husbands every where :) Hope you are feeling better.

  12. Ugh. Being a sick mom is no fun. Hang in there.

  13. unfortunately, we moms don't have time or the luxury of "being sick". I've set the controls on autopilot and sort of functioned through many a cold/migraine/flu. You're pretty foggy at the time and don't remember much of it afterwards, but you get through it. Here's hoping this passes quickly for you!

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
