My Foot's Silver Lining

Some of you have asked about my foot.  Thank you for asking.  Boy, don't we take for granted how good we normally feel when everything is working the way it's supposed to?!  After a week of icing and resting it, it's beginning to improve and today I actually cleaned the bathrooms (the whole family is rejoicing!).  I still don't know exactly what was/is wrong since I decided to hold off on heading to the doctor's, but it's getting better and I am going to be a good little girl and take it slow and continue to ice it like I should because...

I do not want to go back.

As much as this past week was frustrating and depressing at times (at one point I hobbled outside to sit in the sun hoping it would improve my mood) there was a silver lining.

Usually, I don't have time to keep up with blogs- even the ones I love- but through this whole foot fiasco, I had time.  So, not only did I catch up on a couple I haven't read in awhile, I came across two that I really, really like.

The first is Walden Effect.  A very kind commenter suggested I hop over and read some of their bee happenings.  They are about so much more than bees.  They chronicle what they're doing on their homestead in southwestern VA ("58 acres of swamp and hillside").  I highly suggest you check them out (both husband and wife take turns writing posts) as well as their nifty watering system for chickens and their book, The Weekend Homesteader: A Twelve-Month Guide to Self-Sufficiency.

The second is Honey Bee Suite.  Rusty has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to honey bees and her stories and adventures are mesmerizing.  Even if you have no intention of ever getting bees, she's worth the read.  One second I'm entranced, the next on the edge of my seat and the next, laughing out loud (particularly in regards to the post about getting a bee stuck in her bra- that's never going to happen to me...right?).

Happy summer reading, lovelies, and thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  I've felt them.

Love,
Jane

P.S.  No one asked me to write about or mention these blogs.  I did so because I think they're worth my time (and yours).

  1. A bee in the bra is so much more ... interesting? ... fascinating? ... entertaining? than a bee in a bonnet. I almost (not quite) hope it happens to you so you can tell us about it!

  3. Several years ago when my back was really bad, I gave myself French manicures while I sat around and waited to heal. :-) Hoping that you are continuing to feel better with each new day.

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
