Homesteading and School Collide

Probably not the most common first grade response when asked for an example of a cone.  I'm kind of glad it wasn't her first.

  5. If she were in a public school classroom and gave that answer, I wonder how many teachers would even know what the "killing cone" was that she listed?! Could be they would have second (and third) thoughts about your sweet, little girl child. (Hee-hee.)

    1. Well, please tell your son that in the one "classroom" we were studying first grade math, but what Sadie was referring to in her example came from the experiences she has had in our other "classroom" watching this (the first photo shows one of our cones): http://www.thyhandhathprovided.com/2008/11/chicken-harvest-time.html

  8. Her response just shows your family's "fund(s) of knowledge" (see Luis Moll)! :-) I must admit, this public school teacher was scratching her head a bit. Thankfully I checked out your 2008 post & the mystery was solved! -Patty B.

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
