My Kindergarten Recipe

When we were at my parents' house over Thanksgiving they gave each of us kids a folder of old papers from our school days.  Nothing too exciting or worth noting except for one item that made me laugh out loud.  My kindergarten teacher put together a class cookbook for us to give our mothers on Mother's Day.  Who wrote the recipes?  The wise 5- and 6-year-olds in her class.

We each chose something we liked to eat, drew a picture of it and told her how to make it.  She wrote the instructions down verbatim.  Here are some of my favorites.  You know, in case you'd like to try them.

I clearly need to use "stick it" more often in my recipe instructions.

My recipe contribution?  Well, I wasn't too far off when it came to the method, but maybe someone needed to explain to me what cookies actually look like.

I promise I've learned a few things since then.  And, lucky for you, I don't include hand-drawn pictures with my recipes anymore.

  1. "Bake them until the buzzer goes off" Hahaha! What a fun idea for the teacher to do. I wonder what my kids would say... maybe I'll have them do this just for fun.

  5. Isn't it nice to see things like that again? My mother brought over a stack of Mother's day cards that I had given her when I was in
grade school, the homemade ones where we all did them together in class. Makes you feel good that they were special enough to save.

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
