For This Week

A midst the multitudes of things and people I am thankful for this week, perhaps the thing that keeps surfacing for me is how thankful I am for encouragement.

Encouragement can be hard to find these days when we're surrounded by voices telling us we're not good enough, don't have enough, don't look right, and aren't successful enough.  But sometimes, among all the messages that can cut us down come those precious words and gestures of encouragement that can turn our day, week and even year right around.  They shine warm, bright light into our shadows.

I have felt encouragement in earnest this past week.  So many of you wrote me messages and comments full of it in regards to my cookbook and I sincerely thank you.  I've read it in scripture.  I've seen it directed at others which brings me almost as much joy as when I receive it.

We need to encourage more.  We need to lift each other up, brighten each others days and, when it comes our way, soak it up and in and then pass it along.

"I will live, like Jesus,
through suffering and sacrifice,
rejoicing and rejection,
obedience and fellowship,
service and sadness,
death and resurrection.
And my life will end, like his, in glory."
- Sarah Lebhar Hall

Amen and amen, Sarah.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week, friends.  You really are dear to me and if I could, I'd drive to each of your homes (with permission, of course), give you hug (and maybe even a pie) and tell you in person.

Love,
Jane

  1. Thank you for the encouragement your blog has always given me. I feel like you are a next door friend that would do just as you said and come over just to give a hug and a word of encouragement. The best of God's blessings to you and your household! Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. If it weren't for technology I would never have had the chance to "meet" you; however I miss the day when you could have dropped over (with our without pie) without permission, just for a chat. Have a blessed week and thank you for sharing your heart.

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
