In Case You Wanted to Know...

When Jamey works evenings, I feed the kids macaroni and cheese.  Out of a box.  Applesauce counts as a vegetable, right?

I have fallen in love with my neighbor's Bissel steam cleaner.  I borrowed it to clean our painted wood floor hallway upstairs and ended up steam cleaning the whole house (minus the carpeted areas, of course).  Maybe I can give her some applesauce or zucchini bread to borrow it every couple months.  It's that or those floors just are not going to get mopped.

We already have Christmas lights up.  In four rooms.  I love Christmas.

My darling Miriam is potty trained (except for bedtime) and weaned.  Both happened in the past month.  Both were welcome accomplishments, but bittersweet since no more biological babies are in my future.  That, and no more nursing means no built in calorie extractor.  Humph.

I've taken to dumping leftover icing in the bushes.  Better there than in my mouth.

I'm barely getting everything done each day now that school has started.  School is going well, but now that there are two in school and one is in 4th grade, there is little time to get chores done between school and meals.  Hats off to you moms who work outside of the home. And those of you who homeschool three or more.  I don't know how either of you do it.

Sadie was watching me wash dishes the other day (she washes our breakfast and lunch dishes every afternoon while I do school with Sam).  She said, "Oh, that's how you wash that.  One day, I'm going to put that on my blog."  I let you know when she starts hers.

I'm semi addicted to websites like this one and this one.  I've ordered all our Christmas photo cards (from three different places) using their deals and some diaper code points I earned, all for just $6 (including shipping).  Just be careful that you don't get sucked in to buying things you don't need.  If you do that, it totally defeats the purpose.

I had a very awesome house guest over the weekend.  Do you recognize her?

One more thing.  I have three giveaways in the works for you lovely people, so stay tuned.

Okay, now.  What is it that I need to know about you these days?  Because I do want to know. Pin It

  1. You look fab, dear! I so wish we lived closer. One of these days I will make a road trip to see you in person again. I read your blog sporadically, and really enjoy these little catch-up times. Nothing thrilling in my life at the moment - work, getting kids to school and back, rowing, yoga, trying to maintain a semblance of a social life - same old, same old. :) Oh, but I have been baking pies of late - my next foray will be apple . . . I think this Thursday. My apple pies have always been okay, but never stellar. Wish me luck!! :)

  2. That's Mavis!!!!! I can't believe she came to visit you!!

We usually eat a vegetarian meal when Doug is not home for supper. :-)

Let's see, what you need to know about me is that I'm actually looking forward to decorating for Christmas this year. It's been a long time since I could say that. Thanks again for your many prayers that have helped me get to where I am today.

  3. Someone suggested last week I hang up all the lights outside before the snow comes. I chuckled at the thought but are seriously considering it. I will be hanging our wreath snowman on the garage later today.

I am also working on finishing the advent calender. Last year I didn't get around to putting the numbers on (I used stickers instead) so there's a little work left. And I just noticed two pockets are coming undone. We'll fix that too.

And last but not least, I am signing up for school. Come January I am going to get my web application development certificate.

    Have a lovely day!

  4. I love that you have Christmas lights up already. We decorate the day after Thanksgiving and I am already counting down the days.

  5. Probably more than you want to know but I have so enjoyed your blog this past month or two and thought I would share...

You spurred on my canning and freezing efforts this past harvest season! The nectarines..............straight from GOD! Thank you so much for informing us all about the beauty of canning the nectarine over the peach. My husband actually went out and bought a nectarine tree!!!

  6. I'm in love with my dehydrator and nothing is being spared from its drying power. Latest was broccoli. Our weekend included wonderful rain. Of course I recognize Mavis, who doesn't know Mavis? I bet you had a wonderful time together and I am trying not to be jealous, I really am. Christmas is our favorite holiday and we start early with all our family traditions, lights set the mood. Yours look wonderful! Robin in SoCal

  7. I am eating pumpkin pie for breakfast while my kids are unloading the dishwasher. And I can't wait to put up my Christmas lights! (It gets so dark and dreary this time of year)

  8. I need to stop using so much bronzer on my face. I look orange. Ha Ha. I had a lovely time Jane. You were just as I imagined you to be.

  9. I feel better about myself knowing that you make mac n cheese from a box for your kids. With my husband working nights, I have fallen back on that a little too often, but it's just no fun fixing a big dinner for me and the kids.

  10. I love the honesty of your post--it's so refreshing! I can't bring myself to put up the Christmas lights until the day after Thanksgiving--and even then I don't do it--I make my hubby do it! :) Have a great rest of the week.

Just a friendly reminder, if you know me personally please try to refrain from using my name. There are those who may try to locate me, break into my pantry and steal my pickled beets. Thanks:-).
